Soumyabrata

Mr. Soumyabrata is a student of linguistics and holds a master’s degree in the field from the University of Delhi. Before that, he completed his undergraduate studies in sociology. Growing up in a multilingual environment fostered Soumyabrata’s curiosity about the experience of learning a new language. His higher studies further cultivated his interests, going beyond language to its existence and usage in society.

Over the years, Soumyabrata has been involved in a variety of personal and professional endeavours, ranging from volunteer work for a student-led open science initiative in the social sciences to content development and even to industrial roles in the domain of translation and localization, among others.

Through the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant program, Soumyabrata is hoping to transition from being a language student to a language teaching assistant. He is drawing on his experience as a long-time learner of several languages, including Hindi, to broaden language instruction beyond the confines of grammar and memorization by encouraging learners to engage with the culture, society, and lived experiences of India’s people.
