Indian Fulbright-Nehru Alumnus Works on Community Based Resources for Conservation

Ranjay Kumar Singh, 2010-11 Fulbright-Nehru Environment Leadership program alumnus organized a learning event on the eve of International Earth Day. Interactions with elderly women in Siwana Mal village of Jind district, Haryana were conducted to learn about their experiences on climate change and adaptive practices in conserving natural resources. The interactions provided scientists at the Central Soil Salinity Research Institute in Karnal, India with a rich source of hypothesis. Singh and his colleagues plan to use them to develop methods on conserving natural resources and biodiversity.

Singh was at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor during his Fulbright-Nehru tenure. He is a Senior Scientist at the Central Soil Salinity Research Institute in Karnal, India.
