About USIEF

USIEF was established under a bilateral agreement on educational exchange signed between India and the U.S. on February 2, 1950. On July 4, 2008, United States Ambassador David C. Mulford and Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon signed a historic new Fulbright agreement, making them equal partners and thereby strengthening educational exchanges between India and the United States. USIEF is administered by a bi-national Board of Directors consisting of ten Members, five Americans - nominated by the U.S. Ambassador and five Indians - nominated by the Government of India. The U.S. Ambassador to India and Indian Foriegn Secretary are the Honorary Co-Chairs of the USIEF Board.

USIEF's activities may be broadly categorized as:

Administration of Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright Fellowships for Indian and American students, faculty and professionals.
Promotion of dialogue among Fulbrighters and their communities as an outgrowth of educational exchange.
Educational Advising Services for students interested in pursuing higher education in the U.S.
In India, USIEF also administers the Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) and houses the Indo-U.S. Science & Technology Forum and U.S. India Business Council (USIBC).
USIEF also assists the East-West Center within India

Friends of Fulbright to India, Inc.

Friends of Fulbright to India, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed in 1993 by former Fulbright scholars to India who have an ongoing interest in promoting academic exchange between the USA and India. Friends of Fulbright to India, Inc. has supported student grantee travel to India.

’Friends of Fulbright' is operated by former Fulbrighters who volunteer their time. The organization is recognized as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code. Contributions to the organization are tax deductible to the extent permitted by U.S.law.

To give back to the Fulbright community in India:
Donate time and funds to friends of Fulbright to India, Inc and send us idea for potential donors. The Organization would welcome your help in convening meeting of Fulbright in your area to welcome Indian Fulbright scholars during their fellowships in the U.S.
