Loss of Trained Scientific Women Power: Experiences in India and the United States of America
Abstract of Project :
Although several women continue their scientific education up to a Ph. D. degree, the number of women pursuing post-Ph.D. research remains disproportionately low in India. My Fulbright project focuses on a nuanced understanding of the interplay of inclusive policies, organizational, societal and personal factors that exclude women from formal spaces in science and engineering. Through a comparative study, my research explores the role of similar factors responsible for either the inclusion or exclusion of women scientists and engineers in the US. It is useful to compare the findings of the two countries and draw important inferences that can be mutually beneficial.
