Program Manager – Office of the US – India Higher Education Cooperation

Basic Functions of the Position


Under the supervision of Director of Office of U.S. – India Higher Education Cooperation, the incumbent assists primarily in the management of the Obama-Singh 21st century Knowledge Grant Program. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to play a managerial role in the development and preparation of Seminars and Conferences that the Office organizes. He or she coordinates with USIEF staff with regard to grant disbursements, travel and other formalities for selected institutions and scholars and is responsible for up-to-date information regarding USIHEC programs on the website including the information tracking system of grantees. The incumbent also assists the Director in planning and revising grant documents and related materials; developing webinar inputs for orientation and other activities of the Office and aids the Director in maintaining and developing key contacts, including those with alumni.


Major Job Responsibilities:
  • Manages different aspects of the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative Grant Program for institutions.
  • Under the OSI Grant Program, analyzes the quarterly and final reports of all grantee institutions and presents report with comments to the Director. Must be able to reconcile proposed and expended budgets and pay attention to the fiscal reports of grantee institutions.
  • Manages the Institutional Collaborations Database. Must also track collaborations between American and Indian institutions.
  • Manages Program development, revision and publications such as grant agreement documents, grantee booklets, brochures and website, and drafts inputs for different USIEF publications.
  • Assists the Director in strategic planning and setting the agenda for the USIHEC by providing inputs towards identifying key thrust areas, annual goals and annual work plans.
  • Assists the Director in planning, designing and execution of various program events for deepening grantee interface.
  • Any other activity assigned by the Director.
Requirements for Eligibility:

Master’s Degree preferably in Social Sciences or Humanities or Arts with a minimum of five years relevant experience in higher education sector; experience in a multicultural environment or NGO desirable.

Skills: High Level Oral and Written English Communication; Networking and Liaising Skills; Facilitation and public speaking Skills; Partnership Building Skills; and Ability to engage intellectually with grantees. Ability to effectively design and interpret legal aspects of grant agreement documents.


Computer Skills: MS Office, Internet / Email


Compensation:  Rs. 4.77 lakhs per annum + Annual benefits (Approximately Rs. 1.6 lakhs)
