She received her Colorado Professional Teacher License for secondary mathematics through the Teacher-in-Residence Program at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She has spent her entire teaching career at Brighton High School in Brighton, Colorado, and during her time there she piloted and implemented the Advanced Placement Statistics Program in her school and across the district. Outside of school, Ms. Oury is involved with Sister Cities, a collaborative cultural exchange program between the cities of Brighton, Colorado and Ziebice, Poland. This program has given students, civic and business leaders, educators and individual representatives the opportunity to experience a cross-cultural sharing of ideas, events, programs, and celebrations. Within this organization she has chaperoned nine students on a trip to Ziebice, Poland for three weeks and chaperoned a trip for eight students from Ziebice, Poland to the U.S. for three weeks. Being part of this program and having such wonderful cross-cultural experiences so far is what made her want to explore the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program.
